Barb Gould Uskup

Barb is originally from the North Shore of Chicago. She grew up with a passion for horses starting at the age of two on her first pony named “Cookie” with her Dad leading her over her first jump, a log in a field. Her passion for horses grew with her show jumping as an amateur then much success in the U.S. and International circuits, including participation in major Grand Prix’s and a World Cup Final in Tampa, Florida in 1989.

Graduating from Boston College with a B.A. followed by her MBA from Babson, Barb then started her career in sales in Boston, Mass with Proctor and Gamble followed by a stint in advertising with J. Walter Thompson in Chicago.

Barb’s passion for horses gave way to leave the world of advertising to come back to her roots. She opened a boarding and training facility, Dunroven Farm, in Lake Forest, Illinois, with Rush Weeden as her head trainer.

Eventually, Barb combined her passion of horses together with her sales expertise and began her Real Estate career in Barrington, Illinois in 1994. She was a multi-million dollar producer for the next ten years specializing in horse properties, high-end residential homes and estates. During this time Barb would come to Aiken, South Carolina to play polo and fell in love with this quaint small town. She felt she had finally found a place where all disciplines play nicely together combined with temperate weather, culture, and quaint Southern charm. She felt Aiken was a town with a fantastic location as well within two hours to the beach or the mountains, and nearby airports for a flight to anywhere in the world.

Finally, Barb chose Aiken as her home 15 years ago and built a premier Equestrian facility. Over the years she has designed horse facilities of various sizes for multiple disciplines, has done numerous remodels and has designed residences as well, making her an excellent choice to help you with your search for the right property with the right fit for you, your family and your horses.
